Abstract
Acute cerebellar hemorrhages treated medically with subsequent complete recovery are designated benign cerebellar hemorrhages. Acute cerebellar hemorrhage usually requires early surgical intervention and reported surgical mortality is relatively low (17%) in awake patients with this lesion. After .apprx. 2 wk, the predicted mortality for this disorder becomes less than the operative mortality and these patients are expected to recover. A case of acute cerebellar hemorrhage shown by serial computerized tomography in which deterioration and death occurred 4 wk later is reported. Surgical intervention should be considered early in the clinical course of all cases of acute cerebellar hemorrhage.
