Abstract
The erythrocyte sedimentation rates and plasma protein fractions were detd. in 89 blood samples from various diseases. No absolute correlation was found between the sedimentation rate and any of the plasma protein fractions. In addition, marked changes in sedimentation rates were produced by the addition of alkali without any alteration in the conc. of plasma proteins. Variations in sedimentation rates are believed due to variations in the colloidal state of the plasma with consequent changes in the electric charges in proteins and red cells. Keywords
