Abstract
By studying 29 preserved hearts of cases with congenital heart disease on whom ecgs had been taken and comparing in each case with a normal preserved heart to make a decision as to the presence and degree of myocardial hypertrophy, the following criteria for the diagnosis of right ventricular hypertrophy in children from one month to 15 years of age are proposed (1) Presence of a Q wave in V1 (2) Onset of intrinsicoid deflection in V1 delayed to 0.04 second or more (in the absence of RBB) (3) R/S or R/Q in aVR 1.0 (4) P wave 3 mm in lead II or 2.5 mm in any other lead (5) Electrical axis +120[degree] (6) R/S in V1 and V5 within certain limits. Two or more of these criteria were satisfied in 86% of the cases thus enabling differentiation of pathological from physiological right ventricular hypertrophy. Keywords
