Abstract
The fat content of adult alfalfa weevils, Hypera postica (Gyllenhal), is at a low level, 6-10% of body weight, during the winter months when egg deposition is occurring. It rises to about 30% at the beginning of aestivation in May to June and falls to an intermediate level, 10-16%, by the time the weevils return to the fields. Insecticide control should be more effective during the period of low fat content. This publication has 5 references indexed in Scilit:
