An Argument in Favor of Multimethod Research and Evaluation in CAI and CMI Instruction

Abstract
Five classes of measurement methods for CAI or CMI research and evaluation are discussed. These five methods — final examination, attitude questionnaires, naturalistic observation, interviews, and archival data analysis — are considered in terms of their respective advantages and disadvantages. When the outcomes of multiple measurement methods converge, measurement error is reduced and the validity of these outcomes is greatly enhanced.Keywords
