Abstract
In this paper we have studied the interior field of an infinite static cylinder of a perfect fluid having the spins of the individual particles aligned along the axis of symmetry. We have obtained a solution with an assumed equation of state and expressed the pressure and the density as departures from their values on the symmetry axis. As in the case of spherical symmetry, the pressure is discontinuous across the boundary of the cylinder. Keywords
