Abstract
In ferroelectric solids, in particular in mixed ferroelectric solids exhibiting a relaxor ferroelectric behavior, atoms can be locally displaced from the average periodic structure by a significant amount. Therefore the crystallographic structural analysis which presumes periodicity can lead to incorrect description of the structure for these systems. An alternative method of real-space analysis based upon the use of atomic pair-distribution function is advocated to facilitate the realistic description of the structure. Keywords
