Abstract
This paper analyses issues of time in relation to social services. A classification of time-consequences is presented. The fields of education, health, community care, and social security provision are then reviewed to identify the time-consequences which arise for service users and others. Finally, the implications of the analysis - relating to efficiency, consistency, equity, and gender - are discussed. Keywords
