Abstract
A Kubo‐type theory of the dispersion of the refractive‐index anisotropy induced in nonpolar fluids is given to second order in the external electric field strength. The results are expressed in terms of moments of the space–time singlet and pair angular correlation functions of the fluid. This general theory is then applied to a system of nonpolar molecules with negligible angular pair correlations undergoing anisotropic rotational diffusion. Keywords
