Abstract
The N.M.R. spectra arising from three strongly coupled nuclei of spin1/2 (ABC) are derived approximately by a perturbation to second order from the case of coincident shifts (A A′ A″). Some properties of these spectra are considered in relation to the coupling constants and chemical shift parameters. An approximate method of finding the latter is given, and ambiguities in line assignment are discussed. The proton spectrum of acrylonitrile at 29·92 Mc/s is considered as an example. Keywords
