Mössbauer Study of IF5 and IF7

Abstract
The Mössbauer effect in 129I was used to investigate the high valence states of iodine in IF5 and IF7. The quadrupole couplings were found to be + 1073 ± 2 Mc/sec and − 148 ± 4 Mc/sec, respectively. From these values the character of the I–F bond in these compounds was deduced.
