Abstract
Large amounts of fibrinogen remain unclotted in serum after gross coagulation has taken place provided minute amounts of heparin have been added in vitro or therapeutic doses have been administered intravenously one hour prior to the withdrawal of blood. It is assumed that this phenomenon is not based upon the antithrombic action of heparin but upon an interference with the polymerization of fibrinogen to fibrin. Keywords
