Abstract
Cases of basilar and carotid artery disease (90) were evaluated clinically, by eeg and arteriography in order to analyze the natural history of the disease and the manner in which this may be modified by therapy. The disease is characterized in the older-age group by progressive deterioration of the cerebral collateral circulation complicated by any associated heart disease. Surgical reconstruction of severe stenosis of the internal carotid artery in the neck should be considered in carefully selected cases. Keywords
