Abstract
The author reports a case of chronic Trichophyton infection ("black dot" ringworm) of the pseudopelade of Brocq type in a woman 64 years of age, who had had the infection since early childhood. The black dots seen in the small patches of scarring alopecia, representing hairs broken off at skin level, had the ectothrix type of infection such as occurs in large spore Trichophyton infection and from which Trichophvton verrucosum was isolated. After a short analysis of the derma-tophytes usually causing chronic Trichophyton infection of the scalp, the author shows the possibility in the case studied of zoophilic species also giving rise to this type of ringworm. Keywords
