Abstract
The controversial discussion of urethral fluid dynamic in terms of resistance and energy loss has turned into a more comprehensive view of the mechanical balance of detrusor-outlet interaction. Biophysically and pathophysiologically meaningful and realistic conceptualization of voiding function now allows detailed analysis resulting in specific information about bladder outlet and detrusor function. These new urodynamic tools are hardly applied either in clinical urology or in research in obstructive uropathy, which still relies on the poorly specific uroflowmetry and symptoms. Keywords
