Abstract
A quasiclassical approximation is used to calculate S(q,ω) in the large-q limit for a one-dimensional gas of hard rods and for a three-dimensional hard-sphere gas. We find in both cases that S(q,ω) does not approach the impulse approximation as q→∞. In this limit, the form of the spectral function agrees with that suggested by Hohenberg and Platzman, but the half-width of the resolution function due to final-state interactions is (ħq/2m)ρσ rather than (ħq/m)ρσ.Keywords
