Order-disorder transitions in stage-2 graphite intercalation compounds

Abstract
Ordering phenomena in stage-2 graphite intercalation compounds are studied. Stacking faults in the graphite matrix provide a realization of McCoy-Wu one-dimensional randomness. We predict a smeared first-order transition to a phase characterized by long-range order parallel to, and glasslike structural disorder in the direction perpendicular to the graphite planes.Keywords
