Consumer Views of Self-care: Promise or Panacea

Abstract
This paper presents data on people's perceptions of the value of self health care. The author reviews the argu ments supporting and opposing self-care and reports results of a survey addressing some of those arguments. It is concluded that people perceive self-care as a posi tive influence on their personal health and as a positive direction for the community.Keywords
