Abstract
Standardization of computed tomography displays of the torso is desirable so that the orientation of the viewer is automatic just as it is for radiographs. There are 3 reasons for supporting the view from above: available anatomy texts, published material on computed cranial tomography and existing arrangements in some commercially available devices. There are 3 reasons for viewing from below: most ultrasound cross sections are presented this way, comparison with other radiologic examinations is expedited when computed tomograms are similarly oriented, existing arrangements in some commercially available devices. For the present, these images should be viewed from below.
