Abstract
Lower bounds on performance (velocity and shear estimate variance) are computed for a four-beam pulsed Doppler shear profiler system. It is shown that performance is asymptotic to a constant as SNR increases; this is evidently due to the assumed incoherent scattering properties of the medium. Curves and expressions are presented which define the tradeoffs between resolution and accuracy for an operational system.
