Abstract
Tumors of the striated muscle are rather rare, usually not malignant and seldom have metastases via the blood or lymph. They were first described by Abrikossoff (1926) and are often called by his name. Klemperer (1933) reviewed the subject, discussed 44 cases and added 6 new cases. Stout (1943) reported 2 cases and reviewed 120 earlier cases. The latest review (1944) by Warren and Howe brings the total recorded to 155. The 4 types of Abrikossoff or myoblastic tumors are discussed and a new case of Type I, arising in the deep muscles of the back, is described. The tumor was removed by operation. It was definitely encapsulated, about 5X7 cm., and freely movable under the skin over the 9th rib. The cellular structure and pseudoalveolar arrangement of the myoblastoma cells are shown by two drawings of high power magnification of histologic prepns. 13 references. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
