Abstract
1) The spiral growth of the inner surface of the calcitic shell, Anomia lischkei, was examined and discussed on the biocrystallographical viewpoint. 2) The growth hills observed is a stepped pyramidal one, where calcite crystals have one of their rhombohedral axes radiated spirally or directly around its top. 3) The mantle assumes to play one important role upon the orientation of crystals during the mineralization of molluscan shells.
