Abstract
The average heat-transfer coefficient for arrays of slot-jets of air impinging normally on heat-transfer surfaces was investigated for ratios of the nozzle-spacing to the nozzle-width from 5 to 100 and for Reb from 250 to 30 000, where Reb is the Reynolds number based on the nozzle width and speed. In a selected case, a wall-parallel flow was superposed on the impinging jets with a speed up to about 60% of that in the jet without a detrimental effect on the heat transfer. The power-efficiency at heat transfer of impinging slot-jets compares well with impinging round jets and with internal channel-flow.
