Abstract
Growing cells of P. chrysogenum metabolize at least two-thirds of the glucose utilized through a mechanism (or mechanisms) involving a primary oxidation of the first carbon atom to CO2- The data presented are consistent with the belief that this mechanism is the hexosemonophosphate oxidative pathway. Keywords
