Abstract
A method for measuring mercurial diuresis in the rat is described. With mersalyl, given intravenously into hydrated rats, maximum diuresis is obtained with a dose of 4 mg Hg/kg. The height of diuresis is reached in 2-3 hours. Experiments on normal and fluoroacetate poisoned rats as well as on tissue slices indicate that mersalyl in therapeutic doses, has no inhibitory effect on any of the oxidative enzymes of the Krebs cycle. Keywords
