An improved equation of state for gases

Abstract
Based on properties which are characteristic of all gases, modifications are developed for an equation of state previously proposed in this journal (1). A specific application of the modified equation is made for the PVT data on carbon dioxide, and considerable improvement over the original equation is shown for densities in the neighborhood of 1.4 times the critical density. The new equation differs from the old equation only by the presence of the A5 and C5 terms, these having originally been taken to be zero.
