Abstract
Large, fast switches require novel approaches for scheduling. Arbiters must be able to keep up with the high switching rates given by multi-gigabit-per-second link rates and short cells. In this paper, we propose the Parallel Wrapped Wave Front Arbiter (PWWFA). We analyze its performance, present simulation results, discuss its implementation, and show bow this scheme can be applied in a large switch with multi-terabit-per-second throughput and hundreds of ports. Keywords
