Abstract
Public health genetics is a rapidly emerging field that is not well defined. One way of helping to define the field is to describe the competences of the professionals who participate in it. The information presented here attempts to define the knowledge base, skills, and attitudes needed to be a public health geneticist. It is hoped that this information will be used to create a uniform definition of public health genetics, and also help education programs train individuals who want to participate in the field. Keywords
