A Kuroshio Anticyclonic Eddy

Abstract
The characteristic features of a Kuroshio anticyclonic eddy generated during July 1971 are presented for comparison with similar features of Gulf Stream anticyclonic eddies. Their shapes are either elliptical or circular; they are found in the same latitudes of about 38–40N; the warm anticyclonic eddy is surrounded by a sharp thermal front; and cold water is found at the edge of the sharp thermal front.
