Interpolymerization of acrylonitrile and vinylidene chloride in tert‐butyl alcohol

Abstract
True interpolymers of acrylonitrile and vinylidene chloride were prepared with the use of tert‐butyl alcohol or a mixture of tert‐butyl alcohol and water as the polymerization solvent. Analysis of the polymers showed that the ratio of the two monomers in the copolymers was very close to the initial monomer ratio. The polymers were tested for homogeneity by their solubility in acetone or acetonitrile.
