Abstract
"The gustatory sensory threshold of the white rat was determined from the gustatory afferent nerve discharges in the chorda tympani nerve following the application of sodium chloride solutions to the tongue. The thresholds of both normal and adrenalectomized (salt deficient) rats fell at approximately the same value. It is concluded that salt deficiency does not alter the sensitivity of the taste receptors." The writers further point out that clear distinction should be made between sensory threshold and preference threshold. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2006 APA, all rights reserved)Keywords
