Abstract
Protochlorophyll(ide) was isolated from dark-grown wild type and mutant C-2A′ cells of Scenedesmus obliquus after dark incubation with 5-aminolevulinate. Proto-chlorophyll(ide) was detected in mutant cells grown heterotrophically at 29°C or at 21°C. At the latter temperature chlorophyll synthesis was significant. Regulation of chlorophyll synthesis in algae is discussed. Keywords
