Abstract
Subdivision-IV cytoplasmic cylindrical inclusions consisting of pinwheels, scrolls and short curved laminated aggregates are induced by 17 potyviruses [(primarily on monocots) Cocksfoot streak, Iris mild mosaic, Leek yellow stripe, Sugarcane mosaic strain E, Wheat spindle streak, (primarily on dicots) Carnation vein mottle, Pepper mottle, Pepper veinal mottle, Potato virus A, Potato virusy, Sweet potato russet crack, Turnip mosaic, Watermelon mosaic virus, Wisteria vein mosaic, Datura 437, Groundnut eyespot and Tomato (Peru) mosaic]. Five of these viruses infect primarily monocots; 12 infect primarily dicots. Although most isolates of potato virus Y induce subdivision-IV cylindrical inclusions, at least 1 isolate induces subdivision-1 cylindrical inclusions, pinwheels, and scrolls. Viruses inducing scrolls and short curved laminated aggregate inclusions are assigned to subdivision-IV.This publication has 8 references indexed in Scilit:
