Pathology Produced by, Prevalence of, and Probable Life-Cycle of a Species of Sarcocystis in the Domestic Fowl

Abstract
Sarcosporidiosis [Sarcocystis] was the cause of a severe myositis in 3 fowl in Papua, New Guinea and 2 in Australia. This represented 3.8% of the fowl examined in Papua, New Guinea. The overall prevalence of infection in these birds was 45%. Both epidemiological and experimental evidence suggested that the dog was the definitive host for this sarcocyst.
