Abstract
The 3480‐Å absorption band of formaldehyde, 0+2v6′←0, is photographed with linearly polarized radiation in an electrostatic field of 5 kV/cm. From the observed Stark splitting of the lines, this transition is shown to be magnetic dipole in character, in complete accord with the earlier conclusions of Callomon and Innes. This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
