Abstract
By capitalizing on the age detail available in interstate migration data, models have been designed to explain variation in migration streams as well as in areal variation in the volume or rate of migration. These models may be divided into three general classes: (1) gravity models; (2) intervening opportunities models; (3) aggregate ecological models incorporating "push-pull" mechanisms. This article reports efforts to analyze specific state-to-state flows of all older (55+) interstate migrants during the 1965-1970 period using a combination of these approaches. Keywords
