Abstract
The hyperfine structure of the state of 38-min has been determined by the optical double-resonance technique. The measurements yield a nuclear spin , a dipole interaction constant MHz, and a quadrupole interaction constant MHz. If the hyperfine-structure anomaly and quadrupole shielding effects are neglected, the nuclear magnetic moment with diamagnetic correction is , and the nuclear quadrupole moment b. The ratio of the and quadrupole moments is , independent of the quadrupole shielding correction. This work represents the first successful application of the double-resonance method to nuclei with half-lives h.
