Walnut Aphid Resistant to Parathion in Northern California

Abstract

At San Jose, California a strain of Chromaphis juglandicola was encountered which exhibited definite resistance to parathion. In the laboratory it was determined that 140 mg. of a 0.5% parathion dust was required for a LD50 of the San Jose strain while only 20 mg. was needed for a LD50 of a non-resistant form collected at Walnut Creek, California.
