Abstract
The basic concepts of the pathology and pathophysiology of cerebral ischemia are presented. Special emphasis is given to the changes that occur in the microcirculation and in autoregulation because of their primary role in the pathogenesis of cerebral infarction. The effects of adrenal steroids, barbiturates, and cerebral revascularization are reviewed. Keywords
