Abstract
Administration of a purified parathyroid extract to the parathyroidectomized dog resulted in a marked increase in the urinary excretion of phosphate accompanied by a significant fall in its tubular reabsorption, in the absence of any increase in the filtered load of phosphate. Employing the stop-flow technique, it was demonstrated that parathyroid extract increased phosphate excretion probably by affecting the reabsorption of phosphate in both proximal and distal segments of the nephron. Keywords
