Abstract
The energy spectrum of a beam of 4 Å neutrons scattered by vanadium has been measured using a conventional time-of-flight technique. Analysis of the results using the methods described by Placzek and Van Hove has been carried out to determine the frequency distribution of phonons in vanadium. The sample was held at 206, 300, and 860°K, and the effect of temperature on the phonon spectrum was observed. Keywords
