Abstract
Of 15 wader species counted at an inland reservoir over a 23 year period, regular cycles in numbers were demonstrated in Ringed Plover, Dunlin, Curlew Sandpiper and Bar-tailed Godwit. Numbers of Curlew Sandpiper and Dunlin were significantly correlated with winter populations of Brent Geese. Correlations were made between wader numbers and other wintering goose populations of those species that overlap in breeding range with waders, and 9 of 12 correlations were significant. The influence on Arctic breeding grounds of climatic factors and predation is discussed. This publication has 7 references indexed in Scilit:
