Abstract
Discovery of the male of Rhabdiopteryx brodskii Zhiltzova has revealed membership of this species in the genus Kyphopteryx Kimmins, not Mesyatsia Ricker and Ross, as was believed for some time. Rh. brosdskii is placed in Kyphopteryx because of close agreement in genitalia with the type species, K. dorsalis Kimmins; the description of genitalia of K. dorsalis is amended. Some spectacular characters so far believed to identify Kyphopteryx are not present in all included species. The generic concept of Kyphopteryx is accordingly modified; affinities with other Brachypterinae are discussed. Genus Zhiltzovia Ricker and Ross, 1972 is synonymized with Brachyptera Newport, 1851.Keywords
