Abstract
The design and design principles of a time multi- break low-oil content high-voltage breaker are described. The breaker is based on individual V-shaped double break units which can be assembled in series from 72 up to 750 kV. Two current ranges, 27 and 42 kA, are at present available. From a large number of short-circuit tests on a breaking unit consisting of two breaks as well as on single breaks, evidence of very satisfactory switching behavior is introduced. Tests with high rates of rise of recovery voltage are included. Keywords
