Abstract
The dynamic response of Surface-Stabilized Ferroelectric Liquid Crystals (SSFLCs) with several orientational polyimide films which have different chemical structures was investigated. The experimental results examined by switching current and transitional dielectric constant measurement methods were compared qualitatively with the numerical calculations based on the continuum theory. It is proposed that the degree of anchoring strength is obtained by measuring the dynamic responses. The difference of the surface anchoring strength seems to be attributable to the physicochemical interaction between the polyimides and the FLC molecules. Keywords
