Abstract
DIPHTHERIA has shown a striking rise in incidence over the entire world in the last five years. Although the rate of occurrence in the United States as a whole has remained at a static level during this period, some parts of the country have experienced a disturbing increase. In Massachusetts, for example, the number of cases has risen from 123 in 1941 to 439 in 1946 and 440 in 1947. This change, together with the prevalence of the disease in the armed forces in various areas of the world during the war, has aroused again an interest in the study . . .Keywords
