Upper Limit on the $ν_{τ}$ Mass

Abstract

We have set an upper limit on the

ν_{τ}

mass from a study of the four-pion invariant-mass distribution in the decay

τ \to 3 π^{\pm} π^{0} ν_{τ}

. We obtain the limit

{m_{ν}}_{τ} < 164

MeV/

c^{2}

at 95% confidence level.
