Abstract
One group of 52 volunteer Ss and another group of 39 “coerced volunteer” Ss were hypnotized following the Harvard adaptation of the Stanford Hypnotic Susceptibility Scale. Subsequently, 19 volunteers and 22 non-volunteers were hypnotized individually following Form C of the Stanford scale. Results indicate scores in the large groups were comparable to scores of individual sessions. The group scale can be used successfully but precautions should always be taken to foresee and handle deviant reactions. Keywords
