Abstract
Experimental studies have been conducted with driven rotary tools on various work materials, using specially constructed test rigs. The studies include the effect of rotary speed on the geometry, the kinematics and the mechanics of chip formation. The data are analyzed, using the concept of equivalent angle of obliquity. Hitherto unknown and extraordinary effects on the chip formation have been noted which lead to new modes of rotary machining and the expansion of the scope of rotary machining. Keywords
