Abstract
We apply the sum rules of Levinger and Bethe to calculate the integrated cross section () and the bremsstrahlung-weighted cross section () for the photodisintegration of the triton, using the wave function and two-body velocity-dependent central potentials both for and states. The values of the wave-function parameters , , and are those determined from a variational calculation of the binding energy of the triton. Our values of and agree reasonably well with those of Mathur et al. obtained by using hard-core wave functions and potentials, and also with the experimental values of Gorbunov et al.
